CAMBODIA

The ChildSafe Network

Street children, and children from vulnerable urban communities in Cambodia, face multiple hazards on a daily basis, including physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect and dangerous labour. Children who work on the streets are vulnerable to trafficking and sexual exploitation and their unstable lifestyles increase their susceptibility to substance abuse and chronic illnesses.

Mith Samlanh is a facilitator of the 3,000 member strong ChildSafe Network, a proactive community based child protection network of local volunteer members, established to protect children from all forms of abuse and risky behaviour. The Network helps provide a supportive and safe environment for children through direct initiatives, emergency Hotline and behaviour change. ChildSafe makes communities safer for children by raising awareness and strengthening the capacity of local communities as well as travellers to better protect the rights of children and react in case of abuse or exploitation.
