Volunteering conditions

  1. Candidates to volunteer positions must provide:
    -full CV
    -recommandation
    -police record (extrait de casier judiciaire) when possible

  2. Candidates must have a specialty that will be useful to staff and the work of Mith Samlanh

  3. Mith Samlanh is not a training organization and, therefore, cannot accept students who need to gain field experience unless they can bring a specific skill to the teams or can carry out a specific duty that is useful to the organization in accordance with article 4.

  4. Candidates will always work with staff (not with the children directly) to provide specific training, or will carry out a specific duty that will reduce the workload of the staff in administrative capacities (research, reports, presentations…)

  5. No project is to disturb and interfere in the education/training curriculum of the children and must adapt to the Mith Samlanh lesson plans and time-tables

  6. Volunteers must present an application with an outline of a project that must take into consideration points 2-3-4-5 and must include a tentative budget. All proposed projects will be examined by Mith Samlanh management and any proposition that does not fit Mith Samlanh needs will be turned down. Alternative project proposal can be designed by the Mith Samlanh and submitted to the prospective volunteer.

  7. All candidates that are approved will sign a contract and a job description based on the project proposal with Friends-International and Mith Samlanh. The contract will be time-bound with expected results clearly identified. Maximum length of contract is 3 months, but can be renewed.

  8. The volunteers will be directly supervised by and will be responsible to Friends-International. At Mith Samlanh, a specific Team Leader will be appointed to be in charge of each volunteer, under the direct monitoring of the Director.

  9. All volunteers will undergo an orientation visit and basic training on Mith Samlanh and street children before starting their work, whatever the duration of their volunteering time.

  10. Volunteers must work exclusively on the project assigned to him/her. Any change must be first approved by the Team Leader, the Director and Friends-International.

  11. Progress of the volunteer’s work will be monitored by the Team Leader in charge and reported to the Director and Friends-International.

  12. Upon completion of work, all reports, papers, etc. produced by the volunteer, remain the property of Mith Samlanh and/or Friends-International. An intellectual property clause in the contract clarifies the use of material / work by the volunteer. Any abuse can lead to legal prosecution.

  13. A letter of recommendation is issued based on the outcome of the volunteer’s work.

Friends-International requires one experienced volunteer to provide teacher training on student centered approaches and interactive learning. Main tasks for this project will include:

- Assessing the current training needs of the teachers at the Mith Samlanh Vocational Training center.

  • Creating a teacher training curriculum based on those needs
  • Delivering that curriculum over a pre-defined period of time.
  • Providing an accurate progress assessment at the end of the project.

For ChildSafe, Friends-International is looking for a Technical Assistant to assist the teams in all legal aspects

She/He will:

  • be in charge of developing together with the teams, composed by cambodian social workers and fellow lawyers, a curriculum on abuses (basic typology, legal definition, related laws);
  • within a frame newly set-up within FI, follow-up cases of street children and families in conflict with the law.

Requirements:

  • Legal background;
  • Experience in Cambodian context ideal, in developing countries essential;
  • Willing to work with street children, within their environment.

This is a volunteer position, which can evolve into a full-paid position depending on funding.
