The CYTI Network

The CYTI Network is a worldwide network of organizations that aim at providing the highest standard of services to marginalized urban children and youth, their families and their communities.

The CYTI Network is composed of organizations that effectively work for the best interest of children and youth and that have the desire and potential to develop the quality of their services. These organizations consider that there is always a way to improve their work with and for marginalized children, youth, families and communities. The CYTI Network action is always work in progress; it continuously adapts and improves services.

The CYTI Network is composed of:
(1) members: organizations that have signed the CYTI Charter and have a running CYTI collaboration agreement. They can use the CYTI Network name and logo
(2) affiliates: organizations that actively collaborate with a CYTI Network member but do not wish to be officially part of the Network (ex: Government agencies, association of inhabitants...). They cannot use the CYTI name and logo.

The CYTI Network was established and is facilitated by Friends-International.

There are main reasons to become a CYTI Network member are:

  • CYTI Network members receive intense support and training from Friends-International and from  other CYTI Network members to develop their project in terms of services to children, youth and families, administration, marketing and/or finances depending on their needs.
  • CYTI Network members work with recognized Standards of Practice (for services) and Standards of Procedures (for administration).
  • CYTI Network members share best practice experiences and tools and learns from others.
  • CYTI Network members have an improved communication and media coverage.

The CYTI Network is currently composed of 20 members in 7 countries: Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, Honduras, Mexico and Egypt

The word CYTI is not supposed to mean anything, it shows our focus on children and youth living in cities and the fact that CYTI members look at problems in a different way, always trying to find what is fun, exciting, and what can be used in a positive manner. If people really want to find a meaning, then CYTI means "with Children and Youth, Transform and Innovate"
