The training is an on-going process
1. First Phase - training program and professional exchange visit to Cambodia
Conducted in Phnom Penh in September 2004 for 12 participants from Government, NGOs and faith based groups. Formal training covered the subjects of: Children, Children At Risk, Street Children, Working Children, Working with Street/Working Children, The Social Worker, Communication Skills, Outreach, Center based activities, Child Rights, Support to Individual Children, Street / Working Children and Education, Prevention Education, Reintegration / Placement, Training of staff, Monitoring and Evaluation.
The participants also spent time with local Cambodian partner Mith Samlanh to explore activities being implemented and to exchange ideas and experiences.

2. Second Phase - Follow-up on-site training in Myanmar
Conducted in Yangon in March 2005 for 22 participants from Government, NGOs and faith based groups. The approach was changed to become a more formal training, as many participants were new and it was necessary to revisit many basic concepts again (children, street children, communication skills, different types of services) as well as new topics (behavior modification, project planning,).
The main results included:
-The knowledge and skills of social workers and care givers increased:
-Increased understanding of the specific needs of street / working children
-Improved response to these needs and provide effective care to the children
-A team of resource persons / trainers was built that will increase overall quality and quantity of services and care for street/working children in the future.

3. Third Phase – Continuing on-site training
This third phase is to be carried out in 3 parts:
-a study tour visit in March 2006 by the teams of newly established projects for street children (YWCA and YCDC).
Conducted in Phnom Penh and Lao PDR from 22 to 31 May 2006 for 11 participants from Government and organizations. The group included participants who recently initiated projects for street children in Yangon. The training included site visits to Mith Samlanh and Peuan Mit as well as other partner projects and formal training sessions.
The main results included:
-Visits to social work activities in Cambodia and Lao PDR with an emphasis on activities for potential for application in the Myanmar context
-Improved knowledge base to protect vulnerable children
-Participants already active within programs in Myanmar showed particular enthusiasm in expressing their ideas in relation to their own experiences
-Participants were active in expressing areas of high interest to their defined roles
