Description/Objectives of Project
The Friends-International Aceh project will:
- Provide support to street children and to those children who are vulnerable to becoming street children through a holistic street children service.
- Give an in-depth profile of existing street children, children who are vulnerable to becoming street children and to identify their needs.
- Prevent children from becoming street children by working with their families and communities.
- Building the capacity of (local) potential partners.
In order to successfully support the street children in Aceh with their reintegration into their families (or extended family), into communities, into public school and into employment or to refer them to appropriate other services, Friends-International will put together an outreach team, start a drop-in center, provide vocational training, commence a prevention project and conduct capacity building training for potential (local) partners. FI will develop and implement special services for street children in Aceh for the children through the outreach team and the drop-in center. A number of these services have been identified already, others will naturally originate once specific needs arise.
