Honduras is the poorest country in Central America and one of the most violent countries in the world with one of the highest murder rates.

Friends-International started working in Honduras in 2005-2006 after a group of Honduran social workers and local project managers came to Cambodia for three weeks for an exchange visit and training.

Our very own ‘ Rambo’

Mith Samlanh’s mechanics teacher, Mr Oum Morn (affectionately known to everyone as ‘Rambo’) has been teaching mechanics for 44 years. He’s been teaching at Mith Samlanh since 2003.

February was a pretty busy month in the Friends-International head office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The Friends-International board members from USA, France and Germany all met in Phnom Penh to hear reports from all our projects and country offices, from all our support teams, about our finances, our businesses and plans for 2008. It was a long week… Luckily we had plenty of coffee…!

In February, Tamo (Friends-Alliance and CYTI Network coordinator) and I were in Bangkok for a week to work with the Peuan Peuan project team (Peuan Peuan means "friends" in Thai, and its the name of the new Friends-International project in Thailand).

We came to Bangkok to recruit a new Program Manager, provide support to the Outreach and Drop in Center teams, to work on improving the team reporting system, to prepare two evaluation of the project by its beneficiaries and do a few other things.

Enoy and his new foster care family

Today I went to visit a little boy who had been placed with a foster family by the Peuan Mit team.

Enoy is 10 months old and is a chubby, healthy and happy little boy; a real bundle of energy, always jumping up and down and very attached to his new family.

Today is Friday, as in most Muslim countries it is an important and special day where the community gathers for the big prayer at the mosque. Fridays are also a busy day for the recently opened Teman Baik drop in center in Banda Aceh.
