In early 2006, Friends-International's partner Mith Samlanh was faced with the possibility of eviction from its main center which is located in the heart of Phnom Penh.
The center is essential to Mith Samlanh's work:
- It is situated right in the center of Phnom Penh and is close and accessible to where street children live and work.
- It provides easy access to over 1 800 street children per day.
- It provides a complete range of essential services including: hygiene, health care, vocational training, primary education, counseling, food emotional support and cultural activities.
- The center is the base for all outreach teams reaching out to approximately 20,000 children living and working on the streets of Phnom Penh.
In order to secure the future of the program and the futures of Cambodian street children, Mith Samlanh decided to buy the property where its core activities are based. Mith Samlanh now must repay a loan of $US 2.5 million to pay for the center. Please support our "Friends. Building. Futures." appeal to purchase the Mith Samlanh/Friends center.
