Friends-International 3PC Program Review & Looking To The Future!

On February 12th 2015 representatives from the Cambodian Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY) met with partner NGO’s from the Friends-International (FI) initiative 3PC (Partnership Program for the Protection of Children – a coalition of NGOs designed to fill the gaps in child protection across Cambodia ) and representatives from UNICEF and USAID to discuss the highlights of Phase 1 of the 3PC program and to plan for Phase 2 in a workshop environment.

The meeting took place at MoSVY headquarters in Phnom Penh. The vice head of mission of USAID delivered an introduction followed by the welcome speech of H.E Say Siphon, Secretary of State. FI then briefed all participants on the results of the 3 years implementation of the 3PC program to date by highlighting the focus and main results of phase 1.

After that, James Farley from FI delivered a presentation on alternative care before inviting partners Mith Samlanh, Kaliyan Mith and M’lop Tapang to speak about their projects involvingf foster care, family reintegration, family support,
and alcohol/drugs. MoSVY representative, Mr. Om Sophanara, Director of the Child Welfare Department, then presented the achievements of the MoSVY child welfare program.

Then it was time for FI to present the 3PC phase 2. This was followed by a group workshop discussion on three main topics (ChildSafe Campaign, Alcohol/Drugs/violence/ Alternative Care).
before a very successful and productive day closed with speeches from Ms. Rana Flowers, Representative of UNICEF, and the Director of the Child Welfare Department.
